Blending Pragmatism & Principles: How can the EU & Member States promote trust, resilience & inclusive governance in the Central Sahel?

On March 14, 2024, over 100 experts, representing EU institutions, Member States, international and Sahelian NGOs, and think tanks, convened in Brussels to share a decade’s worth of lessons from Team Europe’s engagement in the Central Sahel. Organised by Search for Common Ground and the Just Future Alliance, and co-hosted by the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the EU, the event was centred around effective local efforts for inclusive governance and integrated, peacebuilding approaches to tackle the Central Sahel’s complex crises. This paper captures the essence of rich exchanges among attendees, offering recommendations to shape a brighter future for the region.
